What is social networking?
Social networking is the grouping of individuals into specific groups, like small rural communities or a neighborhood subdivision. Although social networking is possible in person, it is the most popular online especially in the workplace, universities, and high schools.

Connections
You can make lots of friends not only from your country but also foreigners. Beside that, you can also find your old friend and make business contact as well.
Expanding Market Research
Social networking sites give businesses a fantastic opportunity to widen their circle of contacts. For example: Using Facebook, a small business can target an audience of thousands without much effort or advertising.

Building strong social networks can help a business to improve its reputation with as little advertising as possible.

Help user find like-minded individual.
Some people simply find it hard to relate to the people around them.Internet social networks can help people find like-minded individuals and make connections.

Disadvantages of social networking :

Lack of Anonymity
You are putting out information about your name, location, age, gender, and many other types of information that you may not want to let others know.

Scams and Harassment.
There is a potential for failure of security in both personal and business context.

Time Consuming.
If this is not your kind of thing, that it would just be a waste of time for you.The key to social networking is that it is supposed to be fun, whether you are just doing it for kicks or clicking around for business purposes

The Concerns.
It is the people who use them that are a cause for concern. Social networkers, if one can call them so, are the root of five problems for an organization that allows social networking at work.

Viruses and Malware.
There are more than 50,000 applications available for Facebook and while FaceBook may make every effort to provide protection against malware, these third-party applications may not all be safe.

It’s far too easy for predators to find victims using online social networking.
Make sure to limit the personal information you share on social networks, and beware of people you don’t know who want to meet in person.
